Connections Hints for October 24, 2026

One hint per group, yellow to purple. Open only the group you're stuck on — the full solution stays hidden until you tap for it.

Hint 1 · Yellow group

Think long and thin. One sizzles in the pan at breakfast, one runs in the Sunday paper, and one is a twisted loop with only one side.

Hint 2 · Green group

Each of these is held up by a thin handle. Picture a frozen summer treat, a Fourth of July night, and a toy a child might ride around the yard.

Hint 3 · Blue group

Think of the ads that get in your way while you read on your phone or computer. These are the different shapes those ads take.

Hint 4 · Purple group

Add the same short word after each one. That word can mean a place to order a drink, a counter where you fill your own plate, or a long key on your keyboard.

Show today’s answer
  • Yellow (Kinds of strips): BACON, COMIC, FILM, MÖBIUS
  • Green (Things on sticks): HOBBY HORSE, PINWHEEL, POPSICLE, SPARKLER
  • Blue (Online ad formats): BANNER, INTERSTITIAL, OVERLAY, POP-UP
  • Purple (___ bar): CANDY, SALAD, SPACE, SPORTS

The ___ bar group hid in plain sight. CANDY, SALAD, SPACE and SPORTS seem to have nothing in common until you add one short word after each, and SPACE points to the long key at the bottom of your keyboard.

How our Connections hints work

  1. Yellow first, purple last

The hints follow the puzzle's own order from easiest to trickiest, so you can stop wherever you are.

  2. A hint names the theme, not the words

It tells you what the four words have in common. Spotting which four is still your job.

  3. The trap gets a warning

When a word looks like it belongs to two groups, the hint for the harder group says so.
