Spelling Bee Solver
Type the center letter and the six letters around it. You get three hints first, from gentle to generous, and the full word list only when you ask for it.
How the hints work
Hint 1 gives the first letter and length of the pangram, the word that uses every letter. Hint 2 is the two-letter list: how many words start with each pair of letters, like “TE 4”. Hint 3 is the grid: how many words start with each letter, by length. Open them one at a time; the list stays closed until you ask for it.
Every word has at least four letters and uses the center letter. Letters can repeat: with T, E and H you can play “teethe”. Stuck on a single word instead? Unscramble finds every word you can make from any set of letters.
Questions people ask
Will every word here count in the puzzle?
Not every one. The official word list is picked by an editor and is smaller than a dictionary. We show the words most likely to count first, and keep rarer dictionary words in a separate list. Now and then the puzzle takes a word we rate as rare, or skips one we rate as common.
What is a pangram?
A word that uses all seven letters at least once. Every puzzle has at least one, and it is worth 7 extra points. Hint 1 tells you its first letter and length without giving it away.
How are points counted?
A four-letter word is worth 1 point. Longer words are worth 1 point per letter. A pangram adds 7. The total at the top adds up the likely words only.
Do you post today's answers?
No. We don't copy the official list. You type the letters from your own puzzle, and the tool works them out from our word list.
