How the solver ranks words
Every green tile pins a letter to a spot. Every yellow says the letter is in the word but not there. Every gray rules a letter out, or caps how many times it appears. The solver keeps only the words that survive all of that, and lists them with the ones people actually use first.
The best next guess is the fitting word that splits what is left most evenly. Playing it tells you the most, whichever colors come back.

Questions people ask
Does the solver know today's answer?
No. It only knows the word list and your colors. It narrows the list down the same way you would with a pencil, just faster. If you want a nudge toward today's word, use the hint page instead.
How is the best next guess chosen?
Among the words that still fit, it picks the one whose letters split the remaining list most evenly, so whatever colors come back, you learn the most. Ties go to the more common word, since it might be the answer itself.
Why does a word I know is valid not appear?
Our list holds 8,636 five-letter words from a public-domain dictionary, sorted by how common they are in everyday English. Very rare words and some proper nouns are left out on purpose, so the list stays useful.
What if a letter appears twice in my guess?
The solver handles that the way the game does. A gray second E means the word has exactly as many Es as you saw in green or yellow, not none at all.
